Are you bringing your awareness to the table?

Are you bringing your full awareness to the table?

So many of us are 'checked out' when we eat food.

We eat in front of TV. We eat while scrolling social media. We eat while on the phone. We eat in front of our computers.

But this doesn't allow us to bring our full awareness to our food.

And this lack of awareness means we fail to receive the necessary input to fully catalyse the Cephalic Phase Digestive Response (CPDR) and results in a diminished metabolic capacity. It can also lead to overeating and digestive upset.

The CPDR is all about the taste, pleasure, aroma, satisfaction, and the visuals of any given meal. Eating is a five senses experience, not just a one-sense experience.

Not only that but it deprives us of the full pleasure of the meal and eating experience.

For all you food lovers out there - does food taste better when you eat in a distracted manner or when you are fully present with your food?

(Replace food with something else and I think you get the point).

From my experience, food tastes WAY BETTER when I am present. I also feel more satisfied and full with less food.

The thing is - many people are seeking pleasure from food and yet are so distracted while eating that they miss the pleasure in the first place.

So then they seek more food to try and get the pleasure. And again are distracted. So the cycle continues.

So you could see how this can then lead to eating challenges and weight gain.

So, the solution?

Simple: bring your awareness to the table, experience more pleasure and increase your metabolic capacity.

Try it out on your next meal, I dare you. šŸ˜†
